About Me

Peter McAra Born a miner’s son in Western Australia, Peter learned about love and life in a string of rural towns across Australia and New Zealand, where he grew up with his mum, dad and three sisters.

Over the years, his day jobs ranged from miner and truck-driver to academic positions in Australian and US universities. Along the way, he wrote several academic textbooks.

Why the switch to writing romance? As he worked through a communications degree at Sydney’s UTS, Peter fell in love with writing fiction. First, he sculpted a few short stories which found their way into anthologies, then he won a commission to write a novel (The Vintner’s Letters - Mira) which became a best seller.

‘I’m blessed to live in a writer’s dream world - a quiet country house set in the lush rainforest of NSW’s south coast, close to the utterly cute village of Berry. And wife Wendy (a relationship psychologist) who generously contributes her professional expertise on love.’

Now, after a tree-change to green acres in coastal NSW, he farms by day and writes by night — the best time for romance.
